Some nights at the Underworld feel like stepping into a living shrine to hard rock, and this was one of them.

Spread Eagle opened the show with a set that instantly set the tone. Straight out of New York, they tore into their catalogue with grit and swagger. Rob De Luca’s basslines rattled the floor, Ray West prowled the stage with a voice that hasn’t lost a single ounce of bite, and the riffs hit thick and dirty. Songs like Switchblade Serenade and Broken City turned the room into a sweaty, fist-pumping celebration, proving again why they deserve far more recognition than they get.

Then came Warrior Soul, in town to celebrate the anniversary of their debut Last Decade, Dead Century. Hearing the album performed front to back was a rare moment, a reminder that this wasn’t just another record from the early 90s but a firebrand manifesto that still feels relevant. Kory Clarke spat every line like he was channelling the same rage that birthed it in the first place. Highlights like Downtown and The Losers hit with brutal clarity, and the set closed with Interzone and Love Destruction, two blasts of chaos that pushed the crowd right over the edge.

It was a double bill that felt less like nostalgia and more like proof. Proof that these songs were built to last, proof that attitude and grit still matter, and proof that rock and roll can still feel dangerous in a packed London club.
