Becoming a rock n roll concert photographer was never a goal of mine. I was a writer and wanted to become more of a music connoisseur of sorts as I simply love to turn people on to new music. I fell into photography completely by chance when I was asked to write about a Motley Crue show back in 2012 and the publicist said he would leave a photo pass for me. I thought, what the hell do I do with that? So I went out and bought a camera then stayed up all night trying to figure out how to use it. My photos that night were so bad. I felt horrible because I had squandered a once in a lifetime opportunity to photograph one of my all time favorite bands. Ever since that night I vowed to try and master low light photography.
Three years and hundreds of photo passes later my obsession started to pay off. I’ve been fortunate enough to photograph some really amazing shows and my favorite venue to shoot at is the legendary Fillmore here in San Francisco. I have been to thousands of shows at hundreds of different venues around the world and I can tell you that The Fillmore is my absolutely favorite. My next goal is to get one of my photos up in the venue amongst the many other amazing shots that document the buildings legacy. It would be a true honor to be considered so with that being said, here are 20 of my best shots from the many shows I’ve covered for the Fillmore. My hope is that you will see one that is worthy and reach out to me at jason@rocknrollcocktail.com. Thanks for reading, and thanks for keeping rock n roll alive and well here in San Francisco.
