About
Jason Miller
Photographer. Music writer. Marketer. Usually in the pit.
Hello
I’m Jason Miller. I photograph bands, write about music, and have spent most of my working life in marketing. That sounds like three jobs until you notice it’s the same one: find the thing worth paying attention to, then get other people to pay attention to it.
I’m from San Francisco, I live in London, and Rock N Roll Cocktail is where all of it ends up.
01 / Photography
From the pit
I’ve been shooting live music since 2011, mostly from the pit and occasionally from wherever security decides I’m allowed to stand.
My photos have run in Vive Le Rock, Mojo, The Times, Rolling Stone UK, Spin and Shindig. I’ve shot album covers for The Professionals, His Lordship, Warrior Soul and more. I’ve also been shortlisted at the Event Photography Awards three years in a row, which I’m choosing to read as consistency rather than a pattern.

02 / Writing
Three books and a lot of gig reviews
I write about music for The Vinyl District and here. I’ve also written three books: Welcome to the Funnel, Down in Front, and Second Skin: Tales and Truths From the Mosh Pit of Life, my “bizoir”, because I couldn’t decide whether it was a business book or a memoir and stopped trying.
03 / Marketing and speaking
The other kind of stage
I started out with ten years in music marketing at Sony, then moved into B2B tech at LinkedIn, Marketo, Microsoft, ActiveCampaign and a few others. I’ve spoken about music, AI, photography, creativity, marketing, B2B marketing and demand generation at Dreamforce, Advertising Week London and New York, and events across Europe, the Middle East and Australia. In North America, it’s pretty much every B2B marketing conference there is.
