“Jason Miller has an amazing eye for visual experiences and somehow always seems to get the PERFECT picture that tells the story behind the music” – Joe Pulizzi, Founder Content Marketing Institute

“They say nothing beats a live concert. They haven’t seen these photos.” – Scott Stratten, President of UnMarketing and best selling author.

“There is something about a great photographic moment that has always amazed me. What it captures is neither past nor future but a sliver of potential, the arresting of momentary intention…never to occur that exact way again. Gone like a fleeting flirtation with someone on mass transit, leaving you with a “what could have been” smile. What this has to do with Jason and his work, I’ve no idea…but he has a smarminess to him that I find compelling. You should buy this collection of trapped moments, enjoy them and then set them free.” – Jason Bieler, Guitarist, hand model, songwriter, amateur surgeon, producer, Owl Stretching, Saigon Kick, quipster, director of frivolity & music freak.

“There’s only one way for me to describe the skill, talent and photographic acumen of Jason Miller: he’s my rock n’ roll brother from another mother. Our careers took very similar and squiggly paths that led us from headbanging in the pits of some of the scuzziest rock clubs to hanging with the band (and taking on the world of marketing, at the same time). I’ve had a chance to work with tons of rock photographers from the eighties on. Jason is – without a doubt – one of the best. It’s been a pleasure to watch his rise in the world of marketing and rock n’ roll photography. Soak this book in… Down In Front is a rare beauty. See you at the show, Jason.” – Mitch Joel – President, Mirum – Author, Six Pixels of Separation and CTRL ALT Delete.

It all comes down to this. One million photos. Hundreds of bands. Festivals, clubs, theatres, arenas…..

From the very first shot to the last, it’s a story of determination and inspiration, and it all started in San Francisco in April 2012 at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.

I’m waiting to photograph Motley Crue, Poison and the New York Dolls. Holding a DSLR camera for the first time feels clunky and foreign, and yet here I am, standing next to photographers from major publications who have been doing this for decades. I have no f*cking idea what I am doing.

Here it is, in all its unfound glory. The blood, sweat, fire, and masses of fans. From never picking up a camera before to award-winning globally recognized rock photographer in just four years. Learn how I did it in record time and how you can do the same. But not just with photography. With your own passion, all in your spare time.

It saved me from a midlife crisis and gave me something to inspire every part of my life, both personally and professionally. How did I get here? That’s the story. Where did it lead me? That’s the journey. What did I learn? How to tell stories with photos, to manipulate light and action to create art. What was the result? A personal and professional elevation of my brand.

From never having picked up a camera before to photographing the biggest rock stars on the planet in the most exciting venues around the world. This is my story. Documented over five years, it’s a story of perseverance, of digging deep inside and pushing one’s self to do something they never thought they could.

Lüc Carl , author and the voice of heavy metal on SiriusXM Hair Nation and Ozzy’s Boneyard has contributed to the foreword.

So grab a drink, put on your rock ‘n roll seat belt and dive into a visual journey from the back of the crowd to the front of the stage.
